MRWPCA operates the regional wastewater treatment plant located two miles north of Marina. It also maintains 25 pump stations connected to the treatment plant. Secondary treatment discharge is 2 miles into Monterey Bay.

Additionally, MRWPCA operates the water recycling facility at the Regional Treatment Plant and manages the distribution system under contract from the Monterey County Water Resources Agency. Sixty percent of incoming wastewater is recycled. The treatment and distribution of recycled water is paid for by Salinas Valley agricultural growers and property owners. The recycling operations provide irrigation water to 12,000 acres of Castroville farmland. Click here for more information on recycling.
